About Eric

Eric MurphyHas it been 40 years already? Yes, I’ve been a copywriter for more than forty years. Writing to attract donors to support my 501[c]3 organization or soliciting volunteers to leave their comfort zones to come to Eastern Europe to donate their time and talents—God has blessed my writing skills.

Finding AWAI [American Writers & Artists, Inc.] in 2007, I received professional training in copywriting completing their extensive direct response copywriting training program.

Lost my wife to her battle with multiple sclerosis [MS] in December, 2013. But, God smiled on me when Stephanie entered my life and we were married in June, 2015. She had lost her husband in March, 2014, rocking her world. Life was tough for both of us, but it’s sweet now.

Stephanie and I live in Jacksonville, Florida. When she married me she cheerfully agreed to help me with my passion—putting smiles on young faces. She knew that I had lived close to Budapest, Hungary for 25 years leading a youth camp for Hungarian youth and conference center. She had heard the story how I started a youth camp in Montenegro [part of the former Yugoslavia] by walking onto an outdoor basketball court calling out to the 60+ young people in English to come over to hear about my plans. Now, we are connecting with young people in Costa Rica when we travel there. We both love it!

Born and raised in West Virginia and educated in South Carolina, I have lived in Georgia, Alabama, Florida, Hungary and back to Florida. My career includes experience in social work, banking, church and missions.

I’ve lived through tumultuous times with the fall of the Iron Curtain and the development of a fledgling, social democracy in Hungary all the while helping people and giving them hope.

My work in Budapest required a team effort which included recruiting and training staff as well as asking for volunteer help from Hungary, Germany, Romania and the United States. Thousands of letters and emails were written by me, in support of my non-profit organization, a mission organization, to motivate people to action to donate their time or their finances.

These experiences, both in the United States and abroad, have prepared me well for copywriting of all types, especially in the non-profit sector. More specifically, over the past 25 years, I have operated my own non-profit organization in Eastern Europe and now in Costa Rica. I understand the pains of running this type of organization. I know what keeps you up at night. And I really understand what motivates donors. I’m both a pioneer who loves adventure and an entrepreneur. Let me help you by putting my experience to work for your organization or company—B2B or B2C.
